The comic convention will be held in Virtual Akihabara -- the mecca of Japanese subculture reproduced in virtual reality -- from Nov. 6 to Nov. 14 (JST).
Comic Vket 2 will take place in an upgraded version of Vket’s Virtual Akihabara from Comic Vket 1, one where visitors join the venue at a virtual version of Akihabara Station. The virtual station was designed by Japanese train company JR East and accurately reproduced using 3D model data provided by Zenrin Co., Ltd.
Comic Vket 2's upgraded Virtual Akihabara venue where the comic con in VR will take place
Virtual Akihabara features several exhibiting companies, popular trademarks, and general exhibitors with booths set up at the venue. There will even be stores from the real-life Akihabara, linking the virtual venue to the in-person one even more.
The general exhibitor booths include manga with sample pages that you can read in VR, complete with purchase links to buy the full versions on-site. Visitors can also communicate with others at the venue, walking around the different booths and stores just like in real life.
